Curriculum Vitae

Susie McMeekin was born while the family lived in Mittagong in 1954. She began potting in 1978 with her father, Ivan McMeekin, who established Sturt pottery and was a founding member of the Potters Society of Australia. Susie is one of the few second-generation potters in Australia. In 1989 she established her own studio in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney and has been working on her own since. She is slowly evolving her own style and although still adhering to the concept of using as many local materials as possible a few changes are occurring. Most of the materials she uses are found within a three-hour radius of her home giving her work a unique style of its own.
